Your dentist is the first line of defense against Head, Neck and Oral Cancer.  If your dentist has referred you to check out a suspicious lesion, then we're here to help!

First and foremost, do not panic!  In most cases, the lesion just needs to be evaluated by a second pair of eyes and removed as a simple biopsy.  There is no need to worry based on the referral alone.

Second, do not delay.  Prompt evaluation is key to identifying lesions that could be problematic.  Even lesions that are benign (not cancer) may cause problems if treatment is delayed.  Try to schedule evaluation within 2 weeks of referral.
